Models Own
Surprisingly, until very recently I'd never tried Models Own nail polish. I was pretty happy with my Essie collection... but I was still intrigued to see what all the hype was about. After browsing their website I was impressed with the amount of colours and finishes on offer.
I was sent two polishes to try out and bought the rest myself in the 50% off sale. They were all really different to use so I will go through each one.
The Look Show A/W11: Getting Ready
Surprisingly, it didn't take long for me to decide what to wear to the Look Show. I usually opt for the Rock/Classic look (which is what I like to call it). I like to think this outfit is simple but still stylish. I knew I needed a hat to make it interesting... I've never worn a hat before that isn't a wooly winter hat, so this was pretty exciting for me (sad, I know). I bought one from Topshop and one from H&M, and after a consultation with my 3 best girlfriends, we all decided the H&M one was much nicer (and cheaper too!).
Toni & Guy: Hair meets Wardrobe
Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending Toni & Guy's first ever catwalk show with the lovely Zoe. It was a great way to start off London Fashion Week and it was nice to be back at the amazing Somerset House.
It was also a chance for me to test out my hat before the Look Show! My first hat outing :-)
CW Salon at Home
Last week I was invited along to hear about some exciting new products by Charles Worthington. It was a really interesting evening where we watched a presentation and learnt about the Salon at Home 'Straight & Smooth' kit. Have you ever heard someone say they've had their hair chemically straightened? This is basically an 'at home' version of that. This was something I was particularly interested in as I have in the past spent £300 at a time getting my hair 'relaxed' to get rid of the frizz and to make it more manageable.
GlossyBox 'September Issue'
I don't normally do GlossyBox posts, but this month there are lots of different types of boxes, so I wanted to share with you the one that I got.
I think this is one of the best boxes so far...
Green Envy
I got these green 'Jaime' jeans from Topshop a few days ago. I fancied something a bit different as I seem to be wearing blue jeans everyday now and I'm getting a bit bored. I thought these would look nice with my Topshop Allegra boots too.
Topshop Nails
Last night I attempted the Topshop inspired nails that I recently saw on The Fish Tank. They are inspired by the nice 'doodle' packaging that Topshop uses on their makeup range.
To do this I used Essie's 'Sand Tropez', the Models Own art pen and Topshop's Matte top coat. It was very fiddly, but I really like it! It's something a bit different without being too in your face.
Portobello Stroll
We went for a stroll around Portobello market last week and as we were browsing the pretty market stalls it (of course) started to rain like crazy! So my boyfriend and I (he is going to kill me for putting a photo up) ran into the first cafe we saw. It turned out to be an amazing little cafe run by a Thai lady. It was beautifully colourful and lively and they served the most delicious drinks. I had a carrot and apple juice and he had some kind of beetroot concoction. Both were yummy and we were so happy just to chill in there until the rain stopped...
Navigations Through Scent
It started in a rush, topping up makeup and taming hair... and ended with a pizza and a gorgeous gift.
I was invited along to the launch of Molton Brown's first fine fragrances and I jumped at the chance. It's a brand I know well, but have always thought more of as a 'mum' brand and not something I'd buy for myself. When I think of Molton Brown I think specifically of hand wash and body lotion.
Leather Legs
I have had a pair of leggings from H&M for about a year now, which have a leather patch over the knees. I absolutely love them and think that they instantly make an outfit so much more interesting. When I saw these leggings with a leather strip all the way down the sides, I knew I had to have them. They are (of course) from Topshop and were (of course) overpriced. What I like about them is that they are really long and they are quite thick, so they will last me through the A/W.
Bank Holiday
An Urban Outfitters dress, an amazing Mexican meal at Wahaca and some fun times at my local fair. Shame the weather this weekend hasn't been great, but I still love having three days off!
Vivo: Alive With Colour!
Ultimate Base Concealer Kit, Baked Shimmer Palette, Ultimate Brow and Eye Kit, Baked Blush, Blush and Highlighter Duo, Volume Mascara, Lipstick, Pearl Eyeshadow, Highlighter, Diamond Sparkle Lipgloss, Shimmer and Shine Lipgloss, Trio Eyeshadow Palette.
Empties
I have had a bag sitting by my dressing table for month's now and didn't even realise that the contents inside it was growing everyday.
Sometimes I love the packaging of products so much that I can't bear to throw it away and sometimes I love the satisfaction of completely finishing a product, that I hang onto the empty bottle. Weird, I know. But this bag is full of the empties I always repurchase and the lovely packaging I like to keep.
Thank you!!!
I found out today that I have been shortlisted for the Look competition along with 19 other bloggers. Thank you so much to everyone who read my entry and wished me good luck. I am very very happy and hope I get through to the final 5 next Tuesday! There was a massive hype around this and the suspense today was insane. Now another week of waiting, but I am so happy just to be shortlisted! I am really glad you all liked my post - it was really fun to make.
Forever 21
The Forever 21 store on Bond Street opened whilst I was away in Israel and so the first thing I wanted to do when I came back was to visit the new store! I've been to Forever 21 loads in the States and have also been to the one in Birmingham. I've always loved the layout of the store... really bright and spacious! It feels very American, which I love. The only problem is, I think they should be called Forever 15. The clothes are very young! It is great value as the prices are as low as H&M and New Look, but the quality of the clothing is as good as Topshop and some of the higher end high street stores. I looked around the whole store, all three floors and left with some pyjama shorts and a striped tee (because I really needed another one to add to my obscene collection).
New Things
I saw these in the Oxford Circus branch when they first came out and thought they were amazing. I thought I'd think about it and come back and try them on. Next thing I know, Lily writes about them and as usual, they are sold out everywhere! Nightmare! As soon as something is sold out I always want them even more. I finally found a pair in Brent Cross. The last pair available and in my size... fate! I wore these for the first time yesterday and I wouldn't recommend them for lots of walking. I have blisters everywhere, but I still love them.
Camden Shopping - My Look magazine entry
So this is my Look magazine 'bloggers competition' entry. I would love the chance to sit front row at the A/W Look Show and blog about the fabulous clothes on show.
