FINDING YOUR HOME COLOUR SCHEME
One of the questions that just kept coming up when chatting about our home renovation with you guys, was 'how did you pick the colour scheme for your home?' I guess maybe it's because we didn't go all white and grey like our previous home was. Paint and tile colours were without a doubt one of the hardest decisions to make, probably because they're one of the most important. What's the point in doing all the renovation work if the finishing touches aren't right? We didn't want to end up with a home that felt like it could have been anyone's, we wanted to bring as much of our personality into it as possible.
SHOREDITCH: WHAT TO EAT & WHERE TO SHOP
As a born and bred Londoner, I love nothing more than a day fully immersed in what my city has to offer. It's not something I do as much these days, but when I do it leaves me feeling so content, motivated and excited about life. I know it sounds a bit insane, but I guess it's what keeps me here, because London of course has many flaws too.One of my favourite areas to spend time in is Shoreditch, the bit that's sandwiched between Liverpool Street station and Old Street, depending on what angle you're looking at it from. It's a hub for creativity, great food and an edit of only the good shops. So let's say you've got a few hours in the area... let me give you an idea of what to do.
RENOVATION: WHAT I'VE LEARNT SO FAR
I put my hands up and admit that I am not living in a building site with a portable kitchen in the bedroom or getting my hands dirty sanding floors or painting walls. This time round we budgeted to have a team of builders do our project for us, mainly because we couldn't get the time off work but also because we would have just done a really really bad job, and we didn't want that. But a renovation is a renovation and we are definitely living through it in our own way. It's been an experience so far, mainly exciting but also stressful at times. I wanted to share my learnings for any of you that are about to start a renovation or thinking of doing up a do-er up-er anytime soon.
DOWNSIZING MY MAKEUP STASH
Back in the day YouTube was all about the "makeup collections" and showing off the huge amount of products you'd hoarded over the years.

WHERE I'M AT WITH BLOGGING
Unbelievably I’m now in my eighth year of blogging, but I won’t bore you with the story of how it all started as I’m sure you’ve heard it before. It’s strange though to think back to my “What I Heart Today” days and how much things have changed since then. I’ll forever be grateful to those that encouraged me to start blogging in 2010 when no one else really was, and to myself for finally finding something I enjoyed and wanted to focus on. It was another world then; the Internet was still a bit scary and unknown, Twitter seemed like the most bizarre platform and the term ‘blogging’ was an alien concept to most.
NON-SKIMPY SUMMER STYLE
Hands up if you hate Summer dressing? Me too, me too. I love nothing more than putting on a pair of jeans, boots and a big oversized, knitted jumper - Autumn clothes, you are my one true love. So over the years I've learnt how to dress for the Summer weather without feeling totally uncomfortable and exposed. I've made many mistakes... I've attempted to wear overly girly dresses that make me look like an extra on The Sound of Music, I've flashed other passengers on the tube platform thanks to a gush of wind and I've had many a sweaty-under-boob moments when picking the wrong fabric to wear on a hot day.
WHAT I'M LOVING FROM MY BEAUTY STASH
I rarely change up my whole makeup routine, instead I occasionally add in a few new pieces to my daily makeup edit and after a few days I usually know if they're going to become favourites or get switched out for something else. There are a few new products that I've recently been reaching for time and time again, so I thought I'd share my findings... warning, hide your purse!
MY ROCKY RELATIONSHIP WITH EXERCISE
Finding a way to keep semi-fit as an adult has proven difficult for me over the years and many of you guys, unfortunately, have had to witness my moaning and pre-workout jitters on Instagram stories. It wasn't something I ever had to think about as a teen, not only was I a naturally slim person but I genuinely loved sport and did enough of it for fun that keeping fit wasn't a concern at all. Then I went to Uni.
SIX TATTOOS LATER... MY THOUGHTS & LEARNINGS
Over the past 14 years I've had six tattoos done... nothing big, nothing colour, so it's fair to say I'm not the most experienced. But I do still have a few thoughts and learnings that might come in handy if you're thinking of getting some ink done yourself - is that how the cool kids say it?
SAY IT WITH A SLOGAN
Maybe it's the ability to have an opinion without actually having to say anything or just the boost of confidence a "talking" tee can give you on a meh day. I just love 'em. Sure you can use slogans to say something empowering, to share your political stance, to give someone the middle finger without actually doing so...
NARS HIGHLIGHTING POWDERS
The lovely team over at NARS sent me their new launch and I just had to jump on here and share it with you guys. I personally love a highlighter but I think they are still one of those products that seem to just intimidate people. If I were to ask my non-Internet friends what's in their makeup bag, I could pretty much guarantee there would be an untouched hand-me-down highlighter from my collection that they've wanted to try but never really had to guts to, or there wouldn't be a highlighter at all.
FINDING HOME INSPIRATION
When it comes to our home renovation I've realised that there are some things I have really strong opinions about, and no matter how many people tell me otherwise I can stick to my guns and feel confident with my decision. But then there are other questions and decisions that I just struggle to find the answer to. I know what I don't like but it doesn't seem to help me get to the option that I do like.
OUR HOUSE RENOVATION PLANS
I always dreamt of the day I'd have a house and I'm so excited that around the same time I turned 30, this dream became a reality. As a bit of a back story, I lived at home until I was 27 saving for my first flat. It wasn't fun moving back home after the independence of University living but I wanted to utilise the fact that my parents lived in London and I didn't want to waste my money on rent if I didn't have to.
BOOK COVER REVEAL
One day you're just living your life and the next you're writing a book and designing a cover - what?! Time is flying by and I'm trying to hang on to the memories of every part of this process, I know one day I'll look back and it'll just feel like a dream - it already does a bit!I finished writing my book towards the end of last year and I'm not gonna lie, it was a huge sense of relief. It felt like I had just run a marathon (Rich would laugh at that metaphor because seriously I have no idea what that feels like) but before I knew it, it was time to think about the cover.
BEAUTY HAUL: THE BEST BITS
I haven't really felt the need to run out and haul a load of beauty products for a while, honestly it's probably because I'm lucky to be sent a lot of from brands and PR agencies. But something happened over Christmas, maybe it was to do with the videos I was watching, I don't know, but I came into the new year with a huge list of beauty products that I just had to get.I filmed a haul video and first impressions, which you can watch at the bottom of this post, but I thought I'd pick out my top five purchases and break it down and highlight why these stood out to me.
TOP 5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2017
If you saw yesterday's video you'd know that I decided quite last minute to film a 2017 beauty favourites after enjoying watching everyone else's online. It wasn't difficult to pick my top products because unlike my past self, in 2017 I used a lot less product, focusing on the things that really work for me.For this post I thought I'd set myself the task of picking out the top five from my list of favourites, really highlighting the top products I can't live without.
FUJIFILM XT-2 CAMERA REVIEW
Following on from yesterday's video where I talked a bit about how I take my Instagram photos, I thought I'd do a 'review' of my Fujifilm XT-2 camera, and as I always like to remind you guys, I'm no camera expert so excuse the lack of technical lingo.
NEW YEAR, SAME ME
It's usually at this time of year that there's an influx of 'New Year, New Me' blog posts, newsletters and Instagram captions flying around but this year I don't fancy finding a new me, I'm happy as I am.
