I think I was the type of girl who was expected to like “girly” things, but I also liked some boy things. I have never really understood the blue is for boys and pink is for girls, I remember asking about it at a young age about it and I didn’t really get an answer because the people I asked didn’t understand it as well.

i constantly fight those stereotypes, i dress in a feminine way and love make-up, i speak out when i hear those labels and i also encourage my female co-workers to do the same. and then i get frustrated because they just don’t care. they say: “oh well, look, it has been like this and you will not change the men.” it is not about changing men, it is about our confidence!

i really liked your post, lily. and by the way, tomboy in german translates to “Wildfang” which means that you are like a “wild catch”… more animal than acutal human. not the very best label in my opinion. do we have to label anyway? diffcult yet important topic, thanks for putting it out there.

I think it is so important to adress issues such as feminism and gender equality from people who has visibility like you, providing a good role model for young girls. Thank you!
