AUTUMN HOME DECOR

If you haven’t yet watched this week’s video this will be brand new to you, but if you have you’ll recognise these crates and pumpkins as a home favourite in my Autumn Style Guide.

I’ve always been a fan of the rustic/shabby chic look and you may remember this blog post where I showed how I white washed a crate to use for the backgrounds of my photos. I’ve acquired a few more since then and have enjoyed using them all around the house for different things.

You can stack them up and use them as side tables by your sofa, I think they look really nice with a lamp on top. For the moment I have placed mine in front of the fireplace and put mini pumpkins and candles on them for Halloween. The smaller crates are great for holding magazines or sheet music by a piano. And of course you can use them in the kitchen for their original use of holding fruit! Stacked alongside each other they could be used as a shoe rack and in the garden they can be filled with seasonal flowers. The options are endless and I think they’re great things to have around to make you feel inspired to re-decorate with little hassle.

You can find some cheap crates on this website but there are lots of different sites that do them so search around. If you’re near a fruit market you can also ask for some there as they have loads and don’t tend to keep them. A pretty random Autumn home piece  but one that I think looks very effective!
