YSL – Devoted to Fans #1 £39*

When I first heard that YSL would be making an eye shadow palette dedicated to their Facebook fans using the well-known Facebook colours, I was very uncertain. Yes it’s cool that for the first time ever Facebook is linking with a beauty brand… but YSL? And Facebook? Really?

I went along to Facebook HQ last week in London (squeal) to see and hear what it was all about and actually I think it’s a pretty cool collaboration.

In the palette is 4 shades which when you first look at it you’d describe them as blue, white, purple and black. What I like about this palette is in fact you’re getting much more than that. The blue is my least favourite colour and an obvious choice (how could they not?!) but it looks really nice when using it as an accent colour. The white has a gorgeous purple/pink sheen to it which is really unique and similar to a very popular Illamasqua pigment. The purple is quite glittery with quite a bit of silver showing through and finally the black has green undertones making it quite an original colour. The shadows are OK when used dry, but I find they really work well when used wet. The swatches above are when the shadows are wet and this was something they really wanted people to be able to do when using this palette. So much so that they created air holes where the brushes sit, so they can dry even when the lid is closed. So thoughtful!

The YSL Devoted to Fan #1 palette is a massive tribute and a big, fat thank you to their fans. There are only 1,650 palettes in total available and they are exclusive to their fans on Facebook. So if this is something you like the look of you can purchase it here.
What do you think of this collaboration?

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/ysl-le-teint-touche-eclat.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/ysl-le-teint-touche-eclat.html#disqus_thread Thu, 24 May 2012 14:30:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/ysl-le-teint-touche-eclat/
Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation in B10 Beige*

20 years after the launch of the famous Touche Éclat highlighting concealer, YSL have created the Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation. It’s probably one of the most exciting launches of 2012 and I know it’s going to be talked about A LOT. The Touche Éclat is pretty much a cult product although I’m actually not a fan (shock, horror!). I’ve always found it too sheer and I don’t love the scent. So I was really interested to try the foundation and I was sent a couple of samples to try.

Lets start with the main points on this foundation. It’s going to be launched on 28th June exclusively to Selfridges and Brown Thomas and then nationwide from 9th July. It’s £28 and is available in 22 shades which are split into three groups; rose, beige and gold.

The most exciting thing about this foundation is that for the first time YSL are using a soft focus gel in the foundation rather than an opaque powder. Opaque powders are often used in foundations, but tend to mask the skin and cause discolouration, especially on darker skin tones. The gel is supposed to form a translucent film on the skin to smooth out any imperfections without masking the skin.  The aim was to create a foundation that had the same brightening and illuminating qualities of the Touche Éclat.

I used the shade B10 (the lightest from the beige group), which was slightly too light for me but still works once it’s blended in. It’s a different texture to any of my other foundations, but I really like it. I tried applying it with my hands and with a brush and preferred using a brush. I found that it really sunk into my skin as soon as I applied it, so I had to use more product than I usually do. It appears to be quite sheer but once it’s applied all over it gives a flawless finish. It’s extremely light-weight and feels lovely on the skin. I was very happy to notice that it has a much nicer scent than the Touche Éclat too. It definitely gave a luminous effect to the skin and really brightened up my whole complexion.

From what I’ve seen in photos the bottle is very elegant with a gold lid. They’ve also created a £26 foundation brush specifically to use with this foundation.

It normally takes a few weeks for me to decide if I love a foundation or not but I wanted to tell you my initial thoughts. So far I really like it!

Are you excited for the launch of this foundation? Are you a fan of the Touche Éclat?

{Late birthday present from my friend. The shocking YSL mascara – looking forward to trying it}

This week was my first week back at work after my long break. It’s been tough getting back into the swing of things, but I’m excited to be in the new year. I’ve got loads of ideas for my blog and very little time – but I’m working on a way for me to be able to spend more time in the evenings on it, so that I can actually have a life on the weekends. Thought I’d start this new feature every Sunday evening, just giving you a little update on my week. This one isn’t that great because I only just decided to do it, but I thought as you all loved my holiday photo diary, you might like a similar weekly thing.
Spent my weekend babysitting for my nephew and working on the blog. Hopefully going to upgrade to the iPhone 4s tomorrow and thinking about going white!
Hope you’ve all had a good week!

{Been using my Joico K-Pak since I got back from holiday – it’s really doing the trick!}

{MAC blushbaby to wear for work  – a sheertone so easy and natural}

{MAC syrup lustre lipstick – going to try and wear more lipstick this year!}

{The most exciting sale purchase made today!}

{Wearing blushbaby whilst filming a video}

Have a great week and let me know what you think of this new weekly feature!
