Wednesday was a busy day out, here there and everywhere. I thought I’d show you the makeup I wore as it’s been a little while since a WOMF has appeared on here… 

I started by testing out a new primer, the Illamasqua Matt Viel. Their Hydra Veil was a big launch for them and now they’ve brought out a similar product but with a slight mattifying finish. I like the water based formula, it felt refreshing on the skin but I’m still unsure of how it left my makeup towards the end of the day. The testing continues… 

For my base I used my current NARS loves, Sheer Glow and their Radiant Creamy Concealers (with a bit of Bobbi Brown corrector layered underneath for extra dark circle removal). To smooth things over and set it in place for a long day, I used the MAC Mineralised Skin Finish Natural in Light Plus. For bronzer I used one of my all-time favourites by Soap & Glory and for a pop of colour, the Revlon blush in ‘Racy Rose’. 

For my eyes I used a pretty combination that I discovered thanks to Tanya Burr. Remember this video of hers? I was blown away by her makeup look and when I asked what she used, she told me By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock and MAC Haux eyeshadow in the crease. Of course I had to pick them both up and I’m so glad I did, it’s a beautiful combination! Layered on top I used Urban Decay’s Hustle eyeliner and Maybelline The Rocket mascara. 

To finish the look I filled in my brows slightly using the Hourglass Brow Sculpting Pencil and set them with the Blink Clear Brow Gel. I then applied Clinique’s Chubby Stick Intense in Grandest Grape, a beautiful deep plum shade.

This has been my current everyday makeup for the past couple of weeks, so of course keeping things natural and easy to wear. I’ve been enjoying using the No.7 Instant Radiance highlighting stick for an easy highlight and I’ve also been obsessed with the By Terry Baume de Rose (yes my lips are still sore). The Topshop False Lash mascara has been incredible for volume and length and ‘Nooner’ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette has been my favourite shade for my eyes. I’m welcoming my WOMF posts back into 2014 with a rather neutral, everyday look that is suitable for #nomoneymonth. I’m still very much enjoying the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and it works really well with the new Rimmel Stay Matte primer. To conceal I used a mix of Maybelline’s The Eraser Eye layered under my eyes and Bourjois Happy Light for around my nose and chin. I found the Bourjois concealer really easy to blend with my fingers and it worked really well to conceal any blemishes. For my eyes I chose to use the Kiko Long lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 06 because it is so easy to apply, requires minimal blending and lasts all day without creasing. My lips had to stay bare though as I’m currently  suffering from really chapped lips, so I’m on a bit of a lipstick ban… although I’m sure it won’t last long!

This week I have been really enjoying using my Charlotte Tilbury brush for precision powder application and my new Kevyn Aucoin brush for the lower lash smudge. I’m still in love with the YSL foundation and can’t use anything else but for something new I tried out the Lancôme L’Absolu Velours in shade ‘172’. It’s a beautiful matte lip lacquer that’s not as heavy as the Hourglass Rouge Opaque and not as wet as the Rimmel Apocalips. It left a pretty matte, velvety finish that felt comfortable to wear and lasted really well. I also used my new Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, but check back tomorrow for a full review…

This week’s WOMF is brought to you all the way from Hogwarts, where I had my Christmas party this year. But more on that next week, today we’re talking about Christmas party makeup and the look I chose to go for. I wanted to add a touch of sparkle to my eyes, so I used a thin layer of sparkly shadow and allowed myself to do a red lip too! It wouldn’t be a Christmas party without a red lip now would it?! For this look it was all about long-lasting, festive makeup…

I’ve been leaning more and more towards winter makeup shades recently and trying to figure out what suits me and what to avoid. I struggle to wear darker shades without my skin looking really pale in comparison, so I either embrace the paleness or where slightly lighter shades… I’m still undecided. I loved revisiting my L’Oreal Amber Rush Infallible eyeshadow and MAC Plumful lipstick and I love how they look together!
