O.P.I Nail Envy

Recently I’ve had really flakey nails. Everyime I’d paint my nails, they’d chip almost instantly and the tips would flake off… it was actually really gross. No matter what top coat I’d use, it wouldn’t change things. So I made it my mission to find a solution and as usual, I took to Twitter! Almost all the replies were ‘O.P.I’s Nail Envy’. I’d already seen Vivianna does Makeup talk about it so I was convinced and went out to buy one. This little bottle set me back a whopping £18.65… I really can’t believe I spent that.

Nail Envy promises to strengthen your nails and prevent flaking, so I had to give it a go! It says to apply two coats to the nails and then add one layer every other day for a week. I have to admit I cheated… I just can’t have my nails unpainted for that long! I applied two coats to my bare nails, painted them normally and then applied a new layer on top of the polish the next day. I’ve only used this for a week so far but I can already tell it’s a miracle worker! My nail polish is lasting so much longer on my nails and they’ve stopped flaking off completely!

I love it and although it was ridiculously expensive I’m happy I spent it because it works. As long as it does the job it promises, I’m happy!

Have you ever tried this before? Do your nails ever get flakey?

Spark-tacular nails!

My new favourite nail combination – Sephora by O.P.I ‘Spark-tacular’ and Zoya ‘Jules’.

The Zoya polish is a gorgeous subtle silver shimmer and the O.P.I is a perfect dupe of ‘Rainbow Connection’. I love the multi coloured, chunky glitter! It took 2 coats of spark-tacular to make it look like this and I’m really happy with the result.

It’s not in your face and you can only really see the gorgeous shapes and colours if you look really close – I love that about it.

Beauty Buys

After recently becoming obsessed with beauty bloggers, especially Fleur and Ingrid, I have been thinking more about my make-up collection and whether the products I have are the right ones, and best ones for me.

I have always used the MAC moisture cover concealer, but have recently noticed it is too wet and leaves the area under my eyes looking too shiny. It also doesn’t cover up my dark circles well enough. So I decided to try the Studio Sculpt Concealer instead, which comes in the nicest little packaging. I really like it so far, and find it really easy to dab on with my finger (although I don’t know how anyone with long nails uses it, lucky I have short nails).

I also bought (as you saw in my last post) the O.P.I ‘you don’t know Jacques’ nail polish, which I absolutely love. I don’t have any brown nail polish, because I don’t really like brown, but this one is sort of a dark brown mixed with grey and it looks great on!

I also got an O.P.I top coat, because I have been using a really cheap one for ages and it just doesn’t work. The O.P.I top coat is really good and keeps my nail polish on for much longer!

I hope everyone had a great new years eve! Mine was really chilled, but we still had a ridiculous amount of Champagne! 2010 has been a mental year, I still can’t believe I did 3 years of Uni, it flew by! I’m looking forward to starting my grown up life in 2011.

This time last year, I don’t think I even knew what a blog was, so I am very impressed with how successful it had been. Thanks a lot for reading, I really appreciate it!
