Welcome to the cheesiest named blog post I’ve ever written. These are a few of my best friends. We’ve known each other since we were 4 years old, we were inseparable all the way through primary school and although we went to different schools and universities we’re all still ridiculously close. Although we have many things in common, our looks are definitely not one of them, especially our hair. So I thought I’d introduce you to my lovely friends and their hair (random, I know).

This is Keisha, you may have already seen her in this video. In case you couldn’t tell, Keisha is a model – don’t let it get you down too much… some people are just born ridiculously gorgeous. Her origins are Indian and South American and her hair type is thick, not coloured, quite nourished at the roots but a little dry at the ends.
She uses Frizz Ease Shampoo and Conditioner to control the frizz as her hair is so thick and she doesn’t straighten or blow dry it. She also likes to use Moroccan Oil Curling Cream when wearing it curly which is a really nice and nourishing product, as well as using a bit of the Moroccan Oil through the ends of the hair. The Moroccan Oil can be used on dry or wet hair, but Keisha uses it when her hair is dry. This one is a really handy size to use on the go!  When her hair is feeling really dry and damaged after a photo shoot, she’ll use the Motions Treatment Conditioner which is just a super hydrating treatment for hair damaged by too much heat styling. Motions is a brand designed specifically for African American hair, but can be used on anyone with dry hair wanting a deep condition.

SJ’s the youngest in our little friendship group, but was always the leader of the gang… that’s what happens when you’re just really cool. She’s works full time in Fashion but is also a singer part time. She has an incredible voice, you should listen to her cover of Beggin’ here.
Now, I’m not joking, when I asked her to show me all the products she uses on her hair this is all she brought out. Lucky for her though, that she has great hair. I’d describe her hair as quite fine, although she has quite a lot of it. It’s also coloured and can get quite dry at the ends. She uses Kérastase Shampoo and Conditioner, which is a really nice salon brand. I also brought her some Argan Oil back with me from Morocco so she can use a little bit of oil on the ends when it’s feeling dry.

This is Jenny – she’s the crazy one who entertains us all. Jenny is a full time fashion designer and is currently working her butt off finishing her collection to launch in October, this is her websiteJenny’s roots are Nigerian and her and all her siblings are so gorgeous! She obviously has afro hair… and I thought my hair was difficult.  I physically couldn’t fit all her products in one photo. I can’t possibly go through each one, but I’ll mention the most interesting. As she uses so many products to control her hair, she likes to use a clarifying shampoo once a month to strip her hair back to it’s normal conditions. She uses the Panten Pro V Classic Clarifying Shampoo and this prevents any greasy product build-up. She also mixes her own treatment which consists of Coconut Oil (from Thailand), Cream of Nature Jojoba & Olive Oil, Peppermint Oil, Olive Oil replenishing conditioner (for extra protein) and Motions Moisture Plus for extra moisture. Mouthful or what?! Other products she loves using are the Karatin & Green Tea reconstructer and the I.C Hair Polisher and heat protectant serum. When she blow dries her hair she lightly sprays the Sta-Sof-Fro hair spray which is an oil sheen and comb out conditioner that contains lanolin, protein and UV protection. Jenny’s hair routine is mega intense, but works! If you have any questions about it, tweet her @Jennifer_Onah

And then there’s me… looking kinda strange. Most of you know my haircare routine, although it does change slightly every so often. I’ve already posted a video here about my hair and the products I use. My hair is curly, frizzy, dry and has a bit of colour in it. I absolutely love the Ojon Dry recovery shampoo & conditioner* because it really puts the moisture back into my hair and when I leave my hair curly I use them alongside my Regis Curl Lock Curl Cream and the Sebastian Potion 9. I’ve also recently been using the Toni & Guy Prep Curl Defining Oil* which I’ll be doing a review on soon. When I have my hair straight I use the Unite 7 Seconds Condition Detangling Spray which is amazing for protecting my tangled hair.

So this was a pretty mammoth post, but one I thought you’d find interesting. Let me know what you thought of it and whether you like me getting my friends involved with my blog?

Hair Cut & Care https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/12/hair-cut-care.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/12/hair-cut-care.html#disqus_thread Mon, 05 Dec 2011 18:10:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/hair-cut-care/ My hair is naturally very curly. I used to hate it, but now I’ve grown up I don’t mind it. The reason why I straighten it all the time is more for convenience. Even though it’s a pain to have to straighten it every morning, when it’s curly I have to wash it everyday! I just don’t have time in my life for this (putting product on it after washing it takes forever) and my hair doesn’t get greasy quickly – so it’s much easier to have it straight. Although I have a lot of hair, the actual hairs are very fine (which is why it goes curly). When the whole world looks for ‘weightless’ hair products, I desperately look for products to weigh down my hair and make it feel like proper hair.
I’ve had a Keratin treatment around 6 times, I think. I had to have them quite often a few years ago, but now I probably have it once a year. My hair has naturally calmed down as I straighten it so often, but occasionally I need to have the treatment done to stop the ‘puffiness’ and to give in a deep conditioning. It gets very dry and my hairs break quite easily so the Keratin treatment always helps that.

I went to the hairdressers this weekend to get the treatment and have a cut. I go to Toni & Guy, but I really only go for the hairdresser. I’m not really into the ‘chains’. I’ve always been very untrusting of hairdressers due to many embarassing incidents including trying to comb my mane with a tiny comb and it snapping… etc etc. So now that I’ve found someone I trust, I ONLY go to him.

It doesn’t look THAT different in this photo, but it really is. After you have the Keratin treatment you need to leave it dead straight for around 3/4 days. It always feels a bit greasy because it’s basically like having loads of conditioner left in. But after washing it and re-straightening it, it feels very healthy and soft. I had all my dead ends cut off too… it was hard parting with them but it had to be done 🙂

It’s really important for me to keep my hair hydrated so I’ve been looking into some new products to try. I recently bought these from Feel Unique.

I love Moroccan oil and have been really impressed by the mask. My mum has been using the Shampoo and Conditioner and LOVES it so I thought I’d give the conditioner a go.

The Joico K-Pak has been raved about by Fleur so much that I had to get it. This one is specifically for damaged hair so it’s perfect.

I’ll let you know how I get on with these!

So, I hope you found this post interesting… Have any of you had a Keratin treatment before or used either of these products?

Disclaimer: The Keratin treatment and two products were paid for by me and I do not work with Toni & Guy.

Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/09/moroccan-oil-intense-hydrating-mask.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/09/moroccan-oil-intense-hydrating-mask.html#disqus_thread Sun, 25 Sep 2011 17:00:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/moroccan-oil-intense-hydrating-mask/

I’ve been wanting to try Moroccan Oil products for ages now, but they are quite pricey so I’ve been putting it off. My hair has been suffering lately from all the straightening and colouring, so I’ve been looking to get a hair mask.

I went into Rush Hair in Covent Garden to ask about which mask was best for me, as Moroccan Oil have two. I was interested in buying the Restorative mask to repair the split ends and to prevent hair breakage. The shop guy told me how great this products is, but then also went on to tell me how if I leave it on my hair for longer than 7 minutes, it will have the reverse affect and will cause my hair to break off and split….what the hell?! This really freaked me out.. I have no sense of timing and I don’t wear a watch in the shower… that seriously put me off the product.

So I opted for the less scary option with the Hydrating mask. This one can be left on for about 10 minutes, with no rush to rinse out. I use a 50p size amount as I have a lot of hair, and smooth it through my hair.

I was completely amazed with the result. My hair feels so soft and healthy, I really love it! It was £23.85 and I promise it was worth every penny.

Have you ever tried Morrocan Oil products? Did you think they were worth the price?
