Origins VitaZing | Origins Plantscription Concealer* | Burberry Sheer Summer Glow* | Make Up Forever Waterproof eyeliner in 2L Brown | Clinique High Definition Lashes in Brown* | Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Balm

When I know I’m spending the day at home there’s really no need to put on a full face of makeup. Some people don’t bother at all, but I like to, simply because it makes me feel awake and more human.
These 6 products are the ones I’ve been reaching for recently and I really like this quick routine. For my base I use the Origins VitaZing SPF 15 which comes out as a white moisturiser and changes colour depending on your skin tone. It shocks me every time, but it really does give coverage and looks really nice on the skin. I’ve then been using the Origins Plantscription concealer because it’s really moisturising and easy to blend. For my face I like to use the Burberry Sheer Summer Glow palette as I can use it to bronze and also to highlight. One of the highlight shades is also quite pinky, so it’s pretty much a bronzer, blusher and highlight all in one. I find wearing brown on my eyes looks really natural and flatters my eye and hair colour. I draw a fine line along my upper lash line with the Make Up Forever brown eyeliner and smudge it out so it’s not too harsh. It’s a really soft eyeliner so it’s really easy to blend. I then use the Clinique High Definition mascara in Brown, which is the only brown mascara I own and it gives a nice natural, lengthening look to my lashes.
So there it is… my lazy face. Perfect for a Sunday. Do you use any of these products? What do you use for your lazy face?

Hangover Makeup Routine https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/hangover-makeup-routine.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/hangover-makeup-routine.html#disqus_thread Tue, 22 May 2012 14:30:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/hangover-makeup-routine/
Origins ‘A Perfect World’ moisturiser*, Origins BB cream*, Caudalie Beauty Elixer,
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide cream blush in Nectar, Make Up Forever Smoky Lash mascara, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, Carmex moisture plus*

I woke up on Sunday morning thinking I was going to die and I’m sure most of you have been there before. It was my best friend’s birthday, I had an amazing night but the day after was extremely painful. Usually in this case I would just sleep until I am forced to get out of bed, but in this case I’d made plans to meet some friends for breakfast at 11am! This is where the hangover makeup routine comes in…

When you’re hungover you’re very dehydrated (hence why drinking water at the end of the night helps with the hangover) and the same applies to your skin. What I need from my makeup routine in this situation is something very quick and easy. I start by spraying on a little of the Caudalie Beauty Elixer as it helps to wake me up and refresh my skin. I then use the thickest moisturiser I own, the Origins ‘A Perfect World’. This really helps to put the moisture back into my skin; I literally layer it on. I personally avoid any foundation as I haven’t got the energy to use a brush to buff it in and also my skin is never in the right condition to be pilling on heavy makeup. The Origins BB cream is perfect as it’s super moisturising and easy to apply with your hands. It gives a nice amount of coverage and leaves my skin looking healthy and glowing. I use a little bit of the Collection concealer, using the easy applicator to apply it under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin. I usually need a bit of colour (to hide the green) and always opt for a cream blusher. The Elizabeth Arden one is really nice, easy to blend with your fingers and contains vitamins A,C and E. I don’t get busy with eye shadow or eye liner, I just simply apply a nice mascara like the Make Up Forever Smoky Lash. My lips are usually quite dry so a lip balm is a must! The Carmex moisture plus is really nice as it also has a little bit of a natural pink tint.

So that’s it… my hangover makeup routine. I’d love to say this routine hides my hangover, but I think sitting at breakfast with my head in my hands gave it away!

Summer Glow https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/summer-glow.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/05/summer-glow.html#disqus_thread Mon, 14 May 2012 14:30:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/summer-glow/
ByTerry Serum Terrybly SunBooster*, NARS Tinted Moisturiser*, Soleil tan de Chanel, Clinique High Definition mascara*, L’Oreal Rouge Caresse in ‘Dating Coral’, Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All over Radiance cream in ‘Rose Gold’, Jemma Kidd Creme Cheek Colour in ‘Paw Paw’, Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in ‘Pink Beige’

The sun finally made an appearance this weekend so I thought it was the perfect time to try out a new ‘summer glow’ makeup routine. For the past few weeks I’ve been using the By Terry Serum Terrybly Sunbooster and I absolutely love it! It’s a serum that gives you a gradual natural tan as well as hydrating and protecting your skin. It smells absolutely gorgeous, like trees and grass (that’s the only way I cant describe it).  I was lucky enough to be given this at the Space NK press event but when I did some research on it and found out it was a whooping £65, I was a bit taken back. Even with this in mind, I’ve decided that I would repurchase it. It’s such a lovely serum and it has given me a nice subtle glow whilst proving to be a great moisturiser.

So anyway, onto the makeup! I started by using my NARS Tinter Moisturiser, that not only gives good coverage but it is SPF30. I’m annoyingly in between shades, so I use both Finland and Alaska. I then used my Soleil tan de Chanel with my Real Techniques Stippling brush in the contours of my cheeks, on my temples and down my nose. My favourite highlighter for a summer glow is the Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All over Radiance cream in ‘Rose Gold’. I use my finger to apply this along the tops of my cheekbones, under my brows, down my nose and on my cupids bow. To add to the dewy look, I then use the Jemma Kidd cream blusher in ‘Paw Paw’, again using my finger to apply and blend in.

I tried to keep my eyes quite simple, because anything too heavy would ruin the overall look. For a shadow I used the Makeup Forever aqua cream in Pink Beige, which is a really subtle pink cream shimmer. I then used a Clinique high definition mascara in Black Brown, which is something very new to me. I always use black mascara, but I just thought brown would work better and would look more natural… and it did! I ended with the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral as it’s really moisturising and very summery.

Sorry there isn’t photo of me with the final look, the lighting was awful, but I can promise that I looked fresh, dewy and glowing.

Do you use any of these products? What are your favourites for creating a summer glowing makeup look?

IMATS London 2012 https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/02/imats-london-2012.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/02/imats-london-2012.html#disqus_thread Mon, 06 Feb 2012 16:00:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/imats-london-2012/

I went along to IMATS on Saturday – for those of you who may not know, it’s the International Makeup Artist Trade Show held every year in 6 cities around the world. Luckily for me I got a press pass which means it was free to attend AND it was held at a venue 10 minutes from my house. It was definitely worth going taking these factors into account, but if I lived far and had to pay for the ticket, I’m not sure it would be…

I spent the day with some lovely friends, which made the day amazing. We shopped till we dropped and then grabbed some lunch up the road. I was really excited to see a few stands there including Real Techniques and Make Up Forever as these aren’t very accessible in the UK. The exhibition room wasn’t as big as I was expecting at all. I was expecting Clothes Show Live size, but it was about a quarter of the size. We looked around the whole place in about an hour.

I bought quite a bit but didn’t go crazy!

Real Techniques Core Collection:  I’ve wanted the buffing brush from this set for a long time. Although the other brushes won’t get much use, I think it was still worth buying. I think I got this set for around £16, which is a really good deal. I very nearly bought the blusher brush too but thought I’d wait a bit and see how these go. I already have the stippling brush and love it so I’m looking forward to trying them.

Royal & Langnickel Silk Pro Green Line brush set:  We got given this brush set complimentary in the R & L bloggers lounge which was lovely and unexpected. The brushes seem like really great quality and the biggest brush is unbelievably soft, especially for a synthetic brush!

Royal & Langnickel Super Eye Fluff C448 brush: The perfect brush for sweeping on a base colour. Five out of seven days of my week are spent at work, so I’m trying to think more practical when it comes to my makeup routine.

Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Sob: I wasn’t expecting to buy anything from Illamasqua as it’s not a brand I’m that fussed about. I was quite interested in looking for a lipstick, although it turns out they didn’t have any good ones there. The stand was busy but we managed to squeeze in to take advantage of the ‘any item for £5’ deal. This was the only subtle product I could see and I really liked the look of it. Actually, I think all 10 of us picked one up so you may see this circulating the blogosphere. I only have one cream blusher so this makes a nice change to my collection.

Make Up Forever Sculpting Blush in 14-‘matte raspberry brown’: I’m a big fan of Make Up Forever and really wish you could get it easily in the UK! The stand was pretty busy but I had a little mooch and saw this blusher straight away. I haven’t got any blushers in this sort of dark red shade and think it will really suit my skin tone. It’s also a matte blush and I don’t think I have any others in my collection…

Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes in 1L and 2L:   I have been searching for some soft eye liners for a while now. I really hate when an eye liner is scratchy and all the ones I have are. These are really soft and waterproof. I was umming and arring for ages over which colours to get and ended up getting a black and a pearly brown. I later asked Zoe to pick me up a greeny blue, so I actually got three. Love a good eye liner.

So that’s it – that’s my IMATS ‘haul’.

Did you go? What did you buy?

Lily xx

Disclaimer: I applied for a press pass for the event and was given the cork brush set complimentary. Everything else was bought with my own money.

The best of 2011 https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/the-best-of-2011.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/the-best-of-2011.html#disqus_thread Sun, 01 Jan 2012 13:49:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/the-best-of-2011/

Blusher: SMASHBOX Fusion Soft Lights is the perfect blusher for me and looks really natural on. I wear this pretty much everyday for work.
Foundation: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua has been my favourite foundation this year as it’s appropriate for so many different occasions. I wear the shade B20 Beige Tendre. It makes your skin look flawless whilst still looking natural. It’s also really easy to apply with your hands.
Face Primer: The Laura Mercier fondation primer is by far the best primer I have tried. I use it every single day and without it my makeup disappears after an hour. It’s light and fragrance free – without this primer there’s no point in applying any of my other makeup.
Eye Shadow: This year I was introduced to the new LOOK makeup range and have loved using the Triple Hit in La Luxe. The shadows are really pigmented and are the perfect everyday shades.
Concealer: The Bobbi Brown corrector wins hands down. Creamy, perfect colour match, long-wearing and easy to apply. This completely covers my dark circles and I couldn’t live without it.
Lips: This year I bought my first matte lipstick – MAC’s Chili. It’s a gorgeous deep, rust red which I’ve worn lots throughout the Winter. I also discovered Revlon’s Lip Butters and my favourite shade at the moment is 001 Pink Truffle.
Mascara: I recently bought the Makeup For Ever Smoky Lash mascara from Sephora and it beats any mascara I’ve used before. It makes my lashes look thick and long in only a few strokes.

Eye Primer: Far better than any of it’s competitors, the MUA eye primer makes my eye shadows apply much better and last much longer – and it’s so cheap!!

Eye Liner: Soap & Glory released their new makeup range this year and my favourite thing from the collection is the Super Cat liquid felt tip eye liner. It’s really easy to use and creates a thick black line that doesn’t budge all day.
Brushes: My 3 favourite brushes from this year are the Japonesque 324, MAC 214 and the Sephora airbrush concealer brush. The Japonesque brush is incredibly soft and picks up so much product, the MAC brush applies eye shadow perfectly under the bottom lash line and the Sephora brush is bigger than the average concealer brush making it really easy to blend in product under the eye.
Happy New year everyone! Hope you like my product round up – are any of these your favourite too?

Inside my makeup bag https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/11/inside-my-makeup-bag.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/11/inside-my-makeup-bag.html#disqus_thread Tue, 01 Nov 2011 15:27:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/inside-my-makeup-bag/ I thought I’d give you a peek into my daily makeup bag. These are my basic, essential products that I’m using at the moment. The blusher and eyeliner change regularly, but all of the others are staple products that I continue to buy again and again.

– Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in sable, Laura Mercier primer, Oilatum natural repair face cream, Make Up Forever HD powder.
– Guerlain Terracotta bronzer,  Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba.
– Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer in light bisque and beige

These are my basic “make me look human” products… and then I also have a massive drawer full of extra goodies.
