The sun finally made an appearance this weekend so I thought it was the perfect time to try out a new ‘summer glow’ makeup routine. For the past few weeks I’ve been using the By Terry Serum Terrybly Sunbooster and I absolutely love it! It’s a serum that gives you a gradual natural tan as well as hydrating and protecting your skin. It smells absolutely gorgeous, like trees and grass (that’s the only way I cant describe it).  I was lucky enough to be given this at the Space NK press event but when I did some research on it and found out it was a whooping £65, I was a bit taken back. Even with this in mind, I’ve decided that I would repurchase it. It’s such a lovely serum and it has given me a nice subtle glow whilst proving to be a great moisturiser.

So anyway, onto the makeup! I started by using my NARS Tinter Moisturiser, that not only gives good coverage but it is SPF30. I’m annoyingly in between shades, so I use both Finland and Alaska. I then used my Soleil tan de Chanel with my Real Techniques Stippling brush in the contours of my cheeks, on my temples and down my nose. My favourite highlighter for a summer glow is the Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All over Radiance cream in ‘Rose Gold’. I use my finger to apply this along the tops of my cheekbones, under my brows, down my nose and on my cupids bow. To add to the dewy look, I then use the Jemma Kidd cream blusher in ‘Paw Paw’, again using my finger to apply and blend in.

I tried to keep my eyes quite simple, because anything too heavy would ruin the overall look. For a shadow I used the Makeup Forever aqua cream in Pink Beige, which is a really subtle pink cream shimmer. I then used a Clinique high definition mascara in Black Brown, which is something very new to me. I always use black mascara, but I just thought brown would work better and would look more natural… and it did! I ended with the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral as it’s really moisturising and very summery.

Sorry there isn’t photo of me with the final look, the lighting was awful, but I can promise that I looked fresh, dewy and glowing.

Do you use any of these products? What are your favourites for creating a summer glowing makeup look?

Chanel Perfection Lumiere https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/chanel-perfection-lumiere.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/chanel-perfection-lumiere.html#disqus_thread Thu, 19 Jan 2012 10:00:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/chanel-perfection-lumiere/

Last Thursday the much anticipated Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation was launched. This foundation is to replace the Mat Lumiere and the Pro Lumiere, which are both very popular, so the expectations were high.

I happened to be in town last Thursday, so I popped into Debenhams to pick up a sample. The lovely lady at the counter actually gave me 5 samples so I could try it properly – this is how it always should be with high end foundations!

I’ve never really used a matte foundation before as I’m always worried it’ll look cakey. This foundation is semi-matte so I thought I’d give it a go. I picked up the shade 30 Beige, which I think is a little too orange for me, so I may try a lighter shade. I used a brush to apply this and my first thoughts were that it smells really lovely. I found that it left my forehead and cheeks looking pretty flawless, I did however have a problem with my nose area. I thought that it left the area around my nose looking really dry and it showed my pores (didn’t even know I had visible pores before this). I tried it a few days in a row and went through times of loving it and hating it. I think for now, as it is a whopping £36, I’ll hold off from purchasing it. I might try a lighter shade and see how I get on.

I’m not sure Chanel customers will be pleased with this foundation replacing two very popular ones, but hey, you can’t please everyone. I reckon a lot of people will LOVE this foundation too!

Have you tried it yet?

The best of 2011 https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/the-best-of-2011.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/01/the-best-of-2011.html#disqus_thread Sun, 01 Jan 2012 13:49:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/the-best-of-2011/

Blusher: SMASHBOX Fusion Soft Lights is the perfect blusher for me and looks really natural on. I wear this pretty much everyday for work.
Foundation: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua has been my favourite foundation this year as it’s appropriate for so many different occasions. I wear the shade B20 Beige Tendre. It makes your skin look flawless whilst still looking natural. It’s also really easy to apply with your hands.
Face Primer: The Laura Mercier fondation primer is by far the best primer I have tried. I use it every single day and without it my makeup disappears after an hour. It’s light and fragrance free – without this primer there’s no point in applying any of my other makeup.
Eye Shadow: This year I was introduced to the new LOOK makeup range and have loved using the Triple Hit in La Luxe. The shadows are really pigmented and are the perfect everyday shades.
Concealer: The Bobbi Brown corrector wins hands down. Creamy, perfect colour match, long-wearing and easy to apply. This completely covers my dark circles and I couldn’t live without it.
Lips: This year I bought my first matte lipstick – MAC’s Chili. It’s a gorgeous deep, rust red which I’ve worn lots throughout the Winter. I also discovered Revlon’s Lip Butters and my favourite shade at the moment is 001 Pink Truffle.
Mascara: I recently bought the Makeup For Ever Smoky Lash mascara from Sephora and it beats any mascara I’ve used before. It makes my lashes look thick and long in only a few strokes.

Eye Primer: Far better than any of it’s competitors, the MUA eye primer makes my eye shadows apply much better and last much longer – and it’s so cheap!!

Eye Liner: Soap & Glory released their new makeup range this year and my favourite thing from the collection is the Super Cat liquid felt tip eye liner. It’s really easy to use and creates a thick black line that doesn’t budge all day.
Brushes: My 3 favourite brushes from this year are the Japonesque 324, MAC 214 and the Sephora airbrush concealer brush. The Japonesque brush is incredibly soft and picks up so much product, the MAC brush applies eye shadow perfectly under the bottom lash line and the Sephora brush is bigger than the average concealer brush making it really easy to blend in product under the eye.
Happy New year everyone! Hope you like my product round up – are any of these your favourite too?

Inside my makeup bag https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/11/inside-my-makeup-bag.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/11/inside-my-makeup-bag.html#disqus_thread Tue, 01 Nov 2011 15:27:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/inside-my-makeup-bag/ I thought I’d give you a peek into my daily makeup bag. These are my basic, essential products that I’m using at the moment. The blusher and eyeliner change regularly, but all of the others are staple products that I continue to buy again and again.

– My Osprey makeup bag that I got for my birthday last year. It’s a gorgeous soft leather with a lovely print inside.
– Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in sable, Laura Mercier primer, Oilatum natural repair face cream, Make Up Forever HD powder.
– Guerlain Terracotta bronzer,  Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba.
– Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer in light bisque and beige
YSL luxurious mascara and Eyeko graffiti eyeliner pen.
These are my basic “make me look human” products… and then I also have a massive drawer full of extra goodies.
Do you use any of these products?

The small things… https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/07/the-small-things.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/07/the-small-things.html#disqus_thread Sun, 17 Jul 2011 20:02:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/the-small-things/ Just a few products that have been making me very happy recently…
1. The Rouge Bunny Rouge Shimmering Luxe Balm. This looks like your average lipstick, but it is THE most moisturising lip balm I have ever tried! It is completely addictive so I find myself re-applying it throughout the day. The packaging is gorgeous and feels very expensive! I highly recommend this – it’s unlike anything I’ve ever tried. It also leaves you with a very subtle shimmer, which looks really lovely.
2. Soleil Tan de Chanel. I have always seen people talking about this on YouTube and Blogs, but have never really got the point of it. I recently had some time waiting around in Selfridges, so I thought I’d go to the Chanel counter for a chat (my favourite thing to do). The nice lady tried this on me, so I could get a feel for what it is like. It’s basically a cream, but it is quite solid and doesn’t move when you tip the pot upside down. She was adamant that the best way to apply it is to scoop a bit onto your hand and then with a kabuki brush, warm it up on your hand, then apply all over the face. This isn’t realistic for me and also wastes a lot of product, so I just swish a brush around in the pot. It only comes in one colour; but it really does suit any skin tone and leaves you with a gorgeous summer glow. The texture is really soft and easy to blend. The packaging…well it’s Chanel, of course it is amazing!
3. Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter. After seeing this on Lisa Eldridge’s channel, I desperately wanted to try it. It is the perfect subtle colour for a summer makeup look. I looked absolutely everywhere for it and it was impossible to find. I eventually found Korres at Debenham’s, but they were sold out of the Pomegranate. Then, completely by chance I found it in Oliver Bonas! I’m loving it, the colour really suits me!
4. Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau. This was a present from my boyfriend. I tried all the Diptyque scents and I thought this one is perfect for the Summer. I love it and wear it everyday! Diptyque is such a beautiful brand; I have some of their candles and they don’t compare to any other brand. The perfume smells so natural that I could never go back to the commercial, chemical smelling scents.
I hope you all had a great weekend!

No Name https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/07/no-name.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2011/07/no-name.html#disqus_thread Fri, 01 Jul 2011 19:00:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/no-name/

I have found my perfect Summer work outfit. These t-shirts I got at Zara are the best shape; they are thin, have a low neck and look great with everything! I also got these high-waisted trousers which are really comfortable and flattering. They came with this brown belt and I usually don’t like the belts they come with, but this one is really nice!

Here is a full length photo of them… sorry about my messy room!
Any this is my new baby!!! I love her! 🙂
I met Lisa Eldridge today at Selfridges. She was on the Chanel counter doing people’s make-up and me and some of the GlossyBox girls went to say hi. She was so so nice! Really down-to-earth and she took loads of time out to speak to us. She kept telling us how gorgeous we were!! haha. We had a photo with her, it was pretty awful, but I posted it on the GlossyBox twitter page and re-tweeted it on mine.
I hope you all have a great weekend!!!
