I always struggle to write about fragrances and my personal taste is, well… very picky. But this is a new launch I really wanted to tell you guys about. Just as we think all the glitz and glam is long gone and left in December, this pops onto the shelves, FLASH by Jimmy Choo.

It’s Jimmy Choo’s second fragrance and I was introduced to it a couple of months ago at the top of the gherkin building in a very glamorous setting. The whole idea around the perfume is the feeling a woman gets when she puts on her expensive heels and gets ready for a night out. It’s about anticipation, build up and excitement.

The scent itself is very floral with top notes of pink pepper and strawberry and base notes of white woods. There’s also a bit of tuberose and jasmine thrown in the middle. It’s floral and pretty without being sweet and sickly, but I have to say it is a little too floral for me. I don’t hate it though, which is definitely an achievement in my books!

The bottle was designed with a 1970’s chandelier in mind. It’s crystal appearance catches the light at all angles and the box is VERY glitzy and sparkly.

With Natasha Poly fronting the campaign, the appeal for this perfume is all there, but it’s still down the scent itself, and you can now have a sniff yourself at Debenhams, or nationwide from 28th January

Let me know what you think of it when you do!

Jo Malone London, Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2013/01/jo-malone-london-earl-grey-cucumber-cologne.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2013/01/jo-malone-london-earl-grey-cucumber-cologne.html#disqus_thread Thu, 17 Jan 2013 09:00:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/jo-malone-london-earl-grey-cucumber-cologne/
Jo Malone London, Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne       100 ml £76* / 30ml £38

I practically groped the postman when I opened the door and saw him holding a Jo Malone package, I’m a huge Jo Malone London fan as you all know and I had no idea this new cologne launch had been making it’s way to my house – I’m a very lucky girl!

I’m always intrigued by new fragrances from Jo Malone, but this one REALLY caught my attention. Earl Grey and Cucumber, could this be any more British? It pretty much sums up  the British tradition of afternoon tea and as I come from a family of Earl Grey drinkers, I couldn’t wait to give it the spritz and sniff test.

The top note is Bergamot, the heart of the fragrance is Cucumber and the base is Beeswax. Despite being very picky with fragrances, I’m actually a big fan of this one. It’s surprisingly fresh, but kind of also smells like an old Earl Grey tea bag, but in a nice way! It lasted really well on my skin and the vanilla and musk that’s in the base notes really comes out throughout the day.

If you’re already a Jo Malone fan and own some of their fragrances, Jo Malone recommend layering this scent with ‘Grapefruit’ to lift and brighten and with ‘Nutmeg & Ginger’ to warm with a spicy vibrancy.

It is, like all of the Jo Malone products pretty pricey, but I recommend going for the 30ml because it’s the perfect handbag size and by the time it’s finished you can try a different Jo Malone fragrance!

Will you be going to give this a sniff?

Diptyque Paris Christmas Collection https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/11/diptyque-paris-christmas-collection.html https://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/2012/11/diptyque-paris-christmas-collection.html#disqus_thread Thu, 29 Nov 2012 14:30:00 +0000 http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk/diptyque-paris-christmas-collection/

This year, like the past two years, my family have decided to do secret Santa. We got to the point a few years ago where were were buying so many gifts for so many people that we started a maximum £5 rule. The problem there is that we then received not very nice presents. So now we do secret Santa, so we all get one present (maximum £30), but one present that we really want and will love.

Talking about things we want and love… (see what I did there?) I recently went to the Diptyque store on Brook Street in London to see what they have in-store this Christmas. In this case I couldn’t wait until Christmas and already bought myself one… does anyone else get the shopping bug even more around Christmas time?!

There are three ‘Arabian Nights’ themed candles; Sapin Doré, Amber Oud and Oliban. Sapin Doré is the one I fell in love with and ended up buying because it literally smells like a Christmas tree. I lit this and instantly felt cosy and excited for festive things. The candles come in a big and a small size at £45 and £25 and in a beautifully designed glass which I will be keeping to use for pretty storage when the candle burns out.

If you’re buying for someone who likes candles and smelly things, then you literally can’t go wrong with Diptyque.

Have you had a sniff of these Christmas candles yet?
