I work 2 different shifts at work, 9am-4:30pm and 4pm-9:30pm. When I work the 9am shift, it is so hard to get up at 7:30am. I come home from work and as soon as I sit down in my chair and sit back, I find myself dozing off constantly, all night long. I also don’t seem to be able to get much done at all. If I work 4pm shift, I seem to have so much more energy then. I have ALWAYS been a night person and at 55 yrs. old, it is getting so hard to change to this. My body and mind both feel better when I can sleep until 12-1pm, go to work at 4pm, come home at 9:45, get housework and computer work done and go to bed between 5am-7am.

I’ve always struggled with formal schedules because I’m wide awake in the evenings and I just can’t properly function in the mornings. I’ve been trying to find a bit of a middle ground but its definitely not easy – like you say, you work better later in the day (or at night, which is often the case for me). Your morning sounds so much like mine. I try to do the easier computer work in the morning and its often filled with a lot of procrastinating and getting distracted. I’ve been this way as long as I can remember (well before my teenager years and now…well after then), and I’ve finally started to embrace that I simply work differently than others! It is difficult though, when the world is on a *slightly* different schedule than you are, so I have tried to stick to more normal hours.
