THE FORGOTTEN HAIR STEPS

Carrying on the hair theme from yesterday’s post, today I’m talking to you ladies who simply shampoo and condition. If it works for you then stick to it, but if you’re looking to add in some other products to your routine, here are some steps that are often overlooked.

Philip Kingsley Scalp Mask //
Philip Kingsley, the man who saved my mum’s hair from falling out after I was born. His product range is incredible, but one that really stands out is the Scalp Mask. Exfoliating my scalp was something I never even considered, but it makes perfect sense! You know when your scalp starts to itch slightly and you freak out remembering the days of nits and your mum using a teeny tiny comb through your matted hair and you screaming the house down? Yeah, well I’ve learnt that it’s not nits these days, it’s simply a dry scalp from a build of dead skin – lovely! You can use this once a week if needed and using the nozzle you just apply it to your scalp, cover hair with shower cap and leave to work it’s magic for 10-20 minutes before washing hair. Your hair will feel refreshed and soothed when you’re done.

Living Proof Prime Style Extender //
Any brand that is co-founded by the hair trend setter Jennifer Aniston is one that I need to try, but in this case I was already a fan of the brand anyway. Living Proof is a no nonsense, does what it says on the tin kind of brand. The Prime Style Extender should be applied to clean, damp hair as a primer before you style. It helps your style lock into place and last until your next wash. Ok, so nothing for me lasts until my next wash but if you have easier hair than mine, this should do just that. For me, it’s perfect for a night out or special occasion!

Bamboo Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray //
I’ve been a fan of Alterna’s sub-brand ‘Bamboo’ for quite a while as it’s my hairdresser’s favourite. The anti-breakage spray is one of the most important steps in my haircare routine as I do suffer from a lot of breakage. It also helps protect your hair from any heat damage so if you’re a hair straightener like me, this is one for you. It’s made with organic bamboo extract and kendi oil and I can notice instant results when I use it. My hair feels stronger, softer and smells really good too which is always a bonus. I use this on clean, damp hair before any heat styling takes place!

Phyto Repairing Serum //
If you’re not a fan of applying product onto wet hair before drying then here is good alternative. The Phyto Repairing Serum is one that can be applied onto damp or dry hair and it works to repair and protect damaged and split ends. It instantly restores silkiness and shine whilst injecting keratin deep into the hair fibres. The product itself feels really light, so wouldn’t weigh down those with thinner hair.

So pick and choose the one that works for you, but if you were looking for an extra step in your haircare routine, these products get a big thumbs up from me!
