BLACK & WHITE

If I were to describe my style, the word ‘monochrome’ would definitely come up. I do also wear colour, but at the moment I am having a real moment with black and white. I don’t know what it is, but all I want to wear is monochrome, even on my nails!

Over the past couple of months I’ve gradually been transforming my wardrobe and I found some great bits in Topshop and surprisingly, River Island. River Island isn’t somewhere I usually shop as I can’t stand the R’s on everything, but they’ve got some lovely pieces at the moment and I went a bit crazy. For the past few weeks I haven’t had that feeling when you open your wardrobe and don’t know what to wear. I actually feel like I bought some really good staples that can be worn in lots of different ways!

Blazer – As soon as I tried on this blazer I knew I had to have it. It won’t get as much wear as other items in my wardrobe, but if I need to smarten up this will instantly do the trick!
Jumper – I like the idea of a black jumper but have never been able to carry it off. I’ve worn this quilted one with jeans, trainers and my hair up and it kind of worked. You can see it in this Instagram photo, it’s casual but smart at the same time.

Jersey Jacket – I love oversized jackets, especially with skinny jeans. This one is especially nice because although it’s oversized and can be layered on top of jumpers, the arms are tight so it won’t make you look huge. I really like the diamond quilt imprint on it, it adds texture which is something I love in the colder months. This is pretty much the same as this one that I bought first and LOVE.
Paris Sweater – I often wear just t-shirts or tops under jackets and always regret it when I’m freezing my ass off. I wanted a sweater that I could use as a layer in between a coat and a top and this one did the job. It’s not too thick that it makes you look too padded and I like the simple design that will just show through the middle of a jacket or coat.
White Shirt – I have quite a few jersey, basic tops but not many smarter tops especially the type that you tuck into high waisted skirts. I really like this one because it’s quite sheer in places, the quality feels nice and heavy and it has a sporty feel to it because of the elasticated wrists. It’s something quite different but I really liked it with my leather skirt that I wore here

Cat Dress – I am so glad I bought this dress, it was only £14.99 and every time I wear it I get so many compliments. It’s quite short so although it worked well in the summer, now it’s getting colder I’ll have to wear it with tights. It had the potential to look quite young and silly, but because it’s black and white and paired with the right jacket and shoes it can look like a really nice statement dress.

Leather Loafers – I don’t wear heels, so the shoes section in my wardrobe is quite bare and a bit confusing. I have a good pair of trainers and a nice pair of boots but nothing really in between. I was looking for something smart/casual that I could dress up or down. I liked these because they’re quite simple in black leather but the white sole makes them a little different. They really hurt at first but I softened the back using my hands and a hair dryer and now they’re really comfortable. They were a bit more than I wanted to spend but leather means they’ll last longer and will stretch to fit my half sized feet.
