What’s On My Face #22

Inspired by Charlotte Tilbury’s House of Rock’n’Kohl and a look they did on me when I went along, I decided to go for a feline eye which is something I haven’t done in ages!

I started by creating a glowing base using none other than Charlotte’s Magic Cream. It’s not on sale just yet but rumours say it will be very soon. I’m not 100% sure of how I feel about the ingredients yet (I’ll need to get it Caroline approved) but it feels really nice and smoothing on the skin. I followed with the Laura Mercier Radiance primer and NARS Sheer Glow, an old favourite foundation that’s found it’s way back into my daily routine. I also used Topshop’s ‘Polished’ glow pot for an instant highlight.

On my cheeks I tried out the new Bourjois cream blush in ’03’ and I wasn’t actually blown away. Although it’s cream in the pot it instantly turns to powder on the cheeks and I found it hard to apply and quite hard to build upon. For a drugstore cream blush I definitely prefer the Maxfactor one I wrote about here.

To create a kind of 60s feline eye I started by priming using the Smashbox lid primer which I’m really impressed with. I used Stila ‘Kitten’ all over the lid to illuminate and then blended L’Oreal’s ‘Bronzed Taupe’ on the outer corners and under the eye. For the flick I used a navy blue shadow from the Laura Mercier palette and a MAC 263 brush which makes it incredibly easy. I simple pressed the shadow on and the brush did all the work! For lashes I tried Rimmel’s Retro Glam which is coming out soon but I found it to be a bit too natural for me and it didn’t give amazing length or volume.

To finish the look I wanted a natural pink lip so I used MAC ‘Hot Gossip’ which is always a bit too pearly at first but once pressed in with a finger it looks really nice.
