THE GIORGIO ARMANI FACE

A few weeks ago I was invited down to the Armani counter at Selfridges to have a makeover by their National Face Designer Cesar Santos. I’m really not a fan of makeovers and they usually end in a mad dash to the bathroom with face wipes at the ready but this one… well this one was very different.

Cesar started by using the Fluid Master Primer which is a silky primer and then we chose to use the Luminous Silk Foundation as I like quite a fresh, dewy finish. What really shocked me is the amount of foundation he used, literally the tiniest amount. Since then I’ve been really cutting down on the amount I use and it’s made my skin looks so much better and more natural. For under the eyes, around the nose and on the chin he used the Maestro eraser dark circle concealer which ironically I found to be great for blemishes but not as amazing for dark circles. He also tried the new Fluid Sheers on me, using 12 as a bronzer and 1 as a highlighter. The dark brown shade looks terrifying in the bottle, but they are really sheer and easy to blend and it gave me the perfect glow. The highlighting shade 1 is my perfect highlight colour and this can be used on the cheekbones, on the brow bone, down the nose, on the cupid’s bow, on your collar bone… anywhere you want to highlight! For the cheeks we used a product that has literally blow me away, the Cheek Fabric in shade 1. When I saw this cream blusher in a tube I was really intrigued and when he squeezed a bit out onto his hand I was officially terrified. As you can see in the photo above it comes out a neon pink but wow does it blend well. After a bit if dabbing and buffing it left the perfect flush of colour and since then I’ve been addicted to it!

So onto the eyes… how could he not use the Eyes to Kill shadows? These shadows are incredibly pigmented, you literally need a tiny dab on your brush. He started by using the lighter shade in the inner corner and then used the darker shade all over the lid and slightly under the lower lashline. I love this duo-chrome colour and it kind of reminds me of MAC Club which is one of my favourites. He also used a brown eyeliner (clearly he knew my style!) along the top lash line and on the outer edge under the lower lash line. We used the Eyes to Kill mascara which I really like and he also used a brow pencil lightly through my brows… there’s a first!

We decided to keep the lips nude using the amazing Rouge d’Armani lipstick in 103 and then a bit of the beige lipgloss on top. I loved the lips!

I tried to recreate the look for this post, but of course the original one done by Cesar was much better. If you’re ever in Selfridges I’d definitely recommend going to the Giorgio Armani counter and asking one of the sales assistants to try some products on you. I never would have thought to try some of these and now I’ve found some real staples!

My favourites? The Luminous Silk Foundation, the Blushing Fabric and the Eyes to Kill shadows.

Which bits would you like to try?
