THE ANTI-BAKE FOR CHOCOHOLICS

Last week I had the urge to make something, but lets be honest here, I’m no chef, I’m no baker and I’m not very crafty either (despite yesterday’s post). If you’re like me and enjoy the eating bit rather than the baking bit, then this is the perfect anti-baking recipe for you. So what’s anti-baking? A silly word I made up that basically means a no oven involved recipe… yeah, that’s what it means. This is the most simple version of ‘baking’, a 5 year old could do it, but it looks impressive in the end!

What you’ll need:

2 Big bars of chocolate of your choice (you can mix dark, milk & white)
Toppings of your choice

I started by lining a baking tray with grease proof paper and then smashed up the toppings. Pick whatever topping you like, I went for Forrero Rocher, Smarties (for colour) and dried apricots for a bit of fruitiness. I put the toppings in sandwich bags and smashed them into pieces using a rolling pin. I then began to melt the chocolate and you have to be careful when melting chocolate because if you burn it it’ll taste bitter so I slowly melted it by placing it in a bowl on top of a pan of boiling water. Once the chocolate was completely melted I poured it over the tray, you can make it as thick or thin as you like!

I then scattered the toppings all over the melted chocolate and then placed the tray in the fridge. A couple of Friends episodes later and the chocolate had hardened perfectly. Give it a little tap to see how it’s doing, you want it to be really solid. It’s easy to peel off the grease proof paper and then you just brake it up into medium sized pieces and you’re ready to serve!

It’s so easy I’m not even sure it’s blog post worthy, but I thought it was fun and you might like to see how I did it!

What toppings would you put on yours? I was thinking a salty/sweet one would be nice?
