CW Salon at Home

Last week I was invited along to hear about some exciting new products by Charles Worthington. It was a really interesting evening where we watched a presentation and learnt about the Salon at Home ‘Straight & Smooth’ kit. Have you ever heard someone say they’ve had their hair chemically straightened? This is basically an ‘at home’ version of that. This was something I was particularly interested in as I have in the past spent £300 at a time getting my hair ‘relaxed’ to get rid of the frizz and to make it more manageable.

This product is meant for people with in-between hair… hair that isn’t curly and isn’t straight, but is just hard to manage. So to be fair, my hair isn’t the best to test this on as it is particularly thick, curly and frizzy.

I thought I’d give it a go though to see how easy it is to use and to see if it really does make my hair silky like the model promised it would.

This is what comes in the kit.
1. Straightening Treatment  2. Conditioning neutraliser  3. Instructions  4. Comb  5. Aftercare conditioner  6. Latex gloves

I particularly like the big tooth comb… this will definitely come in handy!

So here we go…. my hair before I started (not natural… this is after 3 days of being straightened).

Step 1: Shampoo hair (I used the Charles Worthington Frizz Free Shampoo).

Step 2: Rinse all the shampoo out and leave hair wet and clean.

Step 3: Section off hair.

Step 4: Apply Straightening Treatment and comb through with comb to ensure even distribution. Leave on hair for 20 minutes, with all the hair combed neatly straight.

Step 5: Rinse out all the Straightening Treatment (with your gloves still on).

Step 6: Apply Conditioning Neutraliser all over the hair.

Step 7: Comb through and leave for 5 minutes.

Step 8: Rinse out thoroughly and blow dry. For best results use straighteners.

So this was the outcome. If i’m honest it didn’t feel that much easier to straighten, but afterwards I could notice a difference in the look and feel. It felt softer and looked straighter than it normally does. As I said before, I don’t think I am the best candidate for this as my hair is so mental… but I am quite impressed with the results.

For only £19.99 this is clearly an incredible alternative to the £300 treatment you get in salons. This treatment is supposed to last 6 weeks and after that time your hair goes back to how it was before instead of growing out from the roots (like other hair treatments). It is going to be sold exclusively in Boots.

After this treatment they will also be releasing two more products in the range and I am really looking forward to the Strength & Repair kit. As you can see, my hair is suffering from all the straightening. I’d love to try this one and see the results.

So what do you think of this straightening product? Is it something you’ll be trying?

Lily xx

Update: It’s been 4 days since I did this and my hair is actually feeling really good. I keep getting compliments on it, so something has obviously changed! It just looks more ‘naturally’ straight rather than looking like I have attacked it with straighteners.
