A LIGHTER BLUSH

I’m a big fan of a bold lip and I’m also a big fan of smokey eyes, it’s usually one or the other. So I always like to have a good selection of subtle blushers on hand because most of my looks don’t work with bright pink cheeks. There’s something so classy about a soft blush and I think of these shades would work really well on pale skin tones. They can either be used on the cheekbones as a blush or used lightly as a natural, sculpting contour.

NARS Douceur, which unfortunately I think is now discontinued, has always been one of my favourite blushers. It’s a slightly brown tinted pink and because it’s matte it looks great on the cheeks. It’s easy to wear and goes will almost every makeup look.

Hourglass Mood Exposure has very similar tones to Douceur but with the famous swirled effect that the Ambient Lighting Powders are so well known for. This is a luminous blush but in an extremely wearable mauve shade. This is my mum’s all-time favourite blush as she finds it easy to apply and not too over powering.

Burberry’s Earthy Blush is a really interesting one as it doesn’t look anything like a blusher in the pan. This almost beige blush gives a really natural sculpted look to the skin and I completely fell in love with this when I first tried it. It won’t give you much colour but if it’s shape you’re after, this is a really nice one to play around with.

Clinique’s new Melon Pop, talked about in more detail here, is a lovely soft coral shade that you can layer on very lightly for a tint of colour.

Finally, the Lord & Berry blush in Honey. The packaging of this product is incredibly simple and the blush inside is nothing fancy either. Just a lovely, soft, browny pink blush. This one is great for travelling and as it’s my most recent discovery I’m really enjoying using it.

Five perfectly pale blushers so you can amp up your eye and lip makeup as much as you like!
