HOW TO PREVENT CONCEALER CREASING

IMG_8850

Creasing concealer seems to be an issue for many people, myself included. Often if I forget a few steps my concealer can crease like a b**ch – it happens to the best of us! The consistency of most concealers makes it hard to avoid but there are a few steps I can recommend to reduce the amount of creasing, so listen up…

Light layers //

Piling on a load on concealer won’t brighten up your eye area or make you look like Kim Kardashian, it’ll just make you look like you’re wearing too much makeup. It’s easy with the doe-foot applicators to over apply but I find light layers works much better than just slapping it on and also helps the makeup last all day. Start with a very small amount of concealer, less than you think, blend it in and then go from there. Apply a bit more, blend in between and keep applying very thin layers until you have the coverage you need. I know this saying is overused but seriously, less is more.

Work it in //

Brushes are great because they’re quick but there’s nothing quite like using your fingers for your base products. It gives a completely natural finish and blends the product into the skin much better than a brush ever could. I usually use a brush for the hard work but then right at the end I use my fingers to to work it in until it’s all blended into the skin instead of just sitting on top ready to crease the minute you smile!

Set in place //

Powders can seem quite scary and especially to those who don’t wear much makeup it can seem like an unnecessary product but I find using powder to set my concealer so effective. Try using a translucent (no colour) powder with a very fine texture and just apply a small amount under the eye with a fluffy brush. Don’t press too hard as you don’t want to move the concealer, but a light dusting will help slightly mattify the area and set it in place.

So nothing ground breaking and I’m sure there are some other tips out there (including makeup setting sprays) but personally, I find these three the most effective for me. So let me know if this helps at all and if you have any other tips for creasing concealer?
