NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICKS (updated)

I’m a sucker for a new lipstick launch, especially when it’s my favourite makeup brand and an impressive 40 new shades! The Audacious lipsticks from NARS come in fancy new, magnetic packaging that I much prefer to the old version.

I’m not going to lie, I was pretty overwhelmed at the counter but I’d highly recommend checking out Temptalia’s post with a breakdown of the 40 shades. The formula isn’t completely matte, but it’s pigmented for sure, so I knew I didn’t want a nude. For some reason I always prefer the more sheer formulas when wearing nudes or ‘my lips but better’ shades. So I tried five or six shades on the back of my hand, from tangerine to dark berry. I wanted to take two home with me so in the end I decided on Rita (left) and Vera (right).

Rita is a warm red with a semi-matte finish. I tried so hard not to buy a traditional red as I really don’t need any more but this one has a beautiful warm undertone to it that I couldn’t refuse. Now looking back I don’t think I needed to buy this one, but I do think it’s a gorgeous colour.

Vera is a bright raspberry shade with warm berry undertones. This one is great for Autumn and as it’s slightly darker than something like Revlon Berry Smoothie, I find it to be a bit more vampy and dressy.

Both are really nice and smooth to apply, although I found it easier to apply them with a lip brush rather than straight from the bullet.

With so many shades to choose from I’m impressed I only came home with two, but I definitely could have been more adventurous with my choices – tut tut Lily. So which shades do you have your eye on?
