MAXFACTOR MODERN DECADE: THE 80s

Welcome back to week three of my Mani Month series! For the next two weeks I’ll be featuring different shades of Max Factor’s Gel Shine Lacquers, creating different ‘Modern Decade’ looks from their selection of colours.

I’ve been using these nail polishes for 3 weeks now so I’ve really got to grips with the application and longevity of them. I’m really impressed with their lasting power and how the shine really stays for a week. Remember when I told you about only needing one coat? Well apparently that’s down the the smart technology used in the polish. The bentonite clay gel delivers a high pigment loading formula so it gives really intense colour, while the gloss enhancers provide  the shiny gel-like finish.

This week the decade I’m focusing on is the one I was born into…. the 80s. We all know that bright, funky colours made a huge comeback in the 80s and people felt they could really experiment with their makeup.

I wanted to create some nail art that represents how fun and creative the 80s were. Starting with the lightest shade I applied ‘Vivid Vermillion’ to the entire nail and let it dry. I then applied ‘Twinkling Pink’ across half the nail creating the split nail look I’ve shown once before. My tip for this look would be to use an orange stick, wrapped in cotton wool and dipped in nail polish remover to wipe up the edges. A slow and steady hand will help you achieve a tidy nail.

Also in the collection of brights is “Gleaming Teal”, a gorgeous green that I can’t wait to wear in Autumn!

“Personally I think nothing epitomises 80s fashion more than bright fuchsia. With more feminine muted pink tones, Twinkling Pink shade is a truly current and sophisticated throwback to the 80s.” – Pat McGrath
