HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BLUSH

I spent the second half of 2013 raving about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders which barged their way into my non-powder using life and changed it forever. I can’t get enough of the light textured, glow inducing powders and so when I heard of a possible blush sibling I was a very excited girl. Blush is my thing and one of the products I can’t live without so I’ve been putting them to test and I’m ready to report back.

The blushers are £28 each and are now available on pre-order on Space NK. There are six different shades, each individual blush with it’s unique hand-made swirl. The effect is somewhat along the same lines as the original powders, illuminating, glowing and give that ‘lit from within’ look. Although the brighter blush shades are all mixed in with lighter powders, they still give really good pigmentation and show up more than you would think. The shades are easy to blend and leave a flush of colour with a beautiful sheen for a subtle highlight.

The shade ‘Mood Exposure’ didn’t appeal to me at first, as out of all of them it is more like a bronzer but after trying it, I’m now in love. It sits in the same category at NARS Douceur as a sort of “contour with a flush” shade, although I’d say it’s rosier than Douceur. For something brighter, ‘Radiant Magenta’ is a combination of a fuchsia blush with a soft Radiant Light Ambient Powder. Swirled together and applied on the cheeks it can either be worn as a sheer bright pink or built up to be something more dramatic.

I love the finish of these and they remind me of the MAC mineralize blushers. I’d definitely recommend them and I’ll be looking into some of the softer, peach shades too!

These are both not really my colors. The radiant magenta looks waaay too bright for me as I’m very pale and I think it would look much brighter on me, and te other one is too plummy. But they both suit you so well! I’m just more the peachy blush kinda gal D

  3. Mira says:

Both look awesome. Radiant Magenta is my favorite.

Ah and do you know why they’ve changed the logo on the package? The previous one was much prettier in my opinion!

  5. The look so awesome, Have been dying to try Hourglass products. But sadly they arent available in India yet.

  6. I’ve successfully resisted the Ambient Lighting powders as I’m very picky with my face powders. These blushes look beautiful but I’m afraid they might be a bit too bright for my pale complexion, especially “Radiant Magenta”. I’ll definitely have a look at the other shades as I’m already in love with the luxurious packaging! xx

Definitely a pass! Come to think of it, the HG Ambient Lighting blushes are just a more subdued version of MAC MSF blushes!

  16. Jess H. says:

These are two shades I am most interested in trying. I do not think the softer shades will show much on medium skin tone. Personally I think mood exposure looks nicer on you.

I always wanted to try the Ambient Lighting powders, but I’m not a face powders huge fan then I never splurged on it. But I’m definitely a blush junkie, so I’m super excited about these. Mood Exposure seems lovely, and it’s absolutely beautiful on you!

  23. I really want to try these! I love the Hourglass powder and I have complete faith in Hourglass that these blushes will be just as wonderful. I somehow expected them to be more glowy, but perhaps it just doesn’t translate as much in photos as it does in person.

  43. Denisse says:

I’m honestly not a fan of blush. Probably because the area around my cheeks already gets a bit red, and these colors seem rather strong! However, the ambient powder just seems like a must-have more and more!

  44. I lucked out and scored Radian Magenta the day they went on sale on the Hourglass site, and it is my JAM. I couldn’t love it more!

I love Hourglass and have several products from their range. I was super excited waiting for the blushers but I was disappointed to read on several reviews that the packaging feels cheap. I might buy one but the more I’m reading as the launch approaches I could mix a shade of blush with the ethereal powder I have as the one which uses ethereal is meant to be so light it’s really like a highlight which may not suit daytime. I was going to pre-order but might just wait for people who buy the blushers to review instead of promotional ones.

  55. Ooo these blushes look fabulous, I’ve never tried the brand before, in fact it’s the first time I’ve discovered it thanks to your lovely post 🙂

  60. Radiant Magenta reminds me of a MAC mineralized blush that came out with that…cosmic something or other collection a few years ago. I have the blush, but am totally blanking out on the name of it right now. The colors and veining look almost identical to it.

  71. Love Lana says:

I have Mood Exposure and love it! I also thought it looked a little like a bronzer in the pan but on it was a muted dull pinkish/brown colour. I also bought Luminous Flush. It is more of a soft pink colour while still being really pigmented. If you want to check out the colour of the pans I bought check out lovelanaxx.blogspot.com my little blog. I really like the colours I have been wearing both. They are so pretty both in the pan and on! In love!!
