YSL Forever Youth Liberator Foundation Review

YSL have recently released their new foundation to go alongside one their most popular skincare products. The Forever Youth Liberator Foundation is £34 and comes in 7 shades, I wear B30. It’s the first ‘serum-foundation’ to be made with the Glycanacrif Complex and is designed to revive skin’s youthful brightness and create a more uniform complexion. I have been wearing it all week in my photos and have had so many compliments, so here are my thoughts…

PACKAGING //
The tall, glass bottle is quite hefty so it’s definitely not one for travelling with, but I do like the easy to use, no fuss pump. I would have preferred smaller packaging, but it’s easy to use and sits nicely on my dressing table.

APPLICATION //
The texture of the foundation is quite thick, so my preferred way of applying it is to use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I pump some on to the back of my hand, apply some onto my face using my finger and then using the brush I start pressing it in my skin in a dabbing motion. Once it’s evenly spread over my face (focusing on the centre) I use the brush in circular motions to blend it in. It doesn’t take long to buff in, which is something I really like about it.

COVERAGE //
It’s a medium to high coverage foundation and definitely has quite a bit more coverage than the foundations I usually talk about. When you first apply it it feels a bit ‘wet’ but quickly dries to a more satin finish. What’s amazing about the finish is the radiant glow it gives, it’s not at all dewy but makes your skin look like it’s glowing from within. I found it really smoothed out my skin and didn’t cake at all in any areas. I did find that on my upper lip it looked like I was wearing more makeup than I usually do but after rubbing it in with my finger it looked more natural. It feels moisturising on the skin but also covers blemishes pretty well.

LASTING POWER //
I set the foundation with a very sheer powder (Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder) and found it lasted really well throughout the day and kept the ‘glow’ shown in the photos above. I got a lot of compliments on my skin and didn’t feel like I was wearing any more makeup than usual. It definitely photographs better than it looks in real life, but i also love how it looks in daylight. It does include spf 20 though, so will still give you a white face when you take photos with a flash. Although it looks dewy, it’s not and doesn’t rub off onto clothes or anything like that.

WEARABILITY //
For me this foundation is perfect to wear when I’m filming or taking photos but I also think it’s nice for an everyday foundation for the colder months. The re-plumping and hydrating formula is definitely noticeable, so it’s a nice transitional foundation for Autumn.

Overall I really recommend this foundation and have loved using it. I have a feeling it’s going to become part of my every day routine for the winter. If you’re near a department store, try and get yourself a sample, if not you can find it online here
