URBAN DECAY NAKED SKIN BEAUTY BALM

Try not to read this title, roll your eyes thinking ‘another BB cream’ and click off, because this is far from your average BB cream. Sorry Urban Decay but I’d go as far as saying this isn’t a BB cream…. did they label it wrong?

But seriously, I thought the same. Another brand, another BB cream although this one said Beauty Balm Optical Blurring so I was intrigued. The Naked Skin Beauty Balm is described by the brand as a product that “minimizes pores, lines, wrinkles, and redness instantly” and that it gives you “significantly firmer, more-lifted skin in eight weeks”. Urban Decay also say that the “universal shade dries down to a translucent, semi-matte finish”. This last sentence officially confused me.

So what are my thoughts? Well call this a BB cream and I’ll tell you I think it’s rubbish, but call this a primer and I’ll tell you it’s really good. Those of you looking for a BB cream with coverage you will be disappointed because the product is almost invisible ten minutes after application and I looked as if I wasn’t wearing any makeup. When I used this as a primer though underneath my Revlon Nearly Naked foundation it worked really well. It smoothed out my skin, it helped the foundation to blend in, it made the foundation last and I couldn’t stop stroking my face all day. It also includes SPF20 so works great as a primer.

I can’t confirm any firming or lifting as it hasn’t been eight weeks and I’m not sure I’ll be able to use solely this product for eight weeks. The price tag is pretty high at £23 so whether I think it’s worth it is a tough one. If you find your foundation or tinted moisturisers don’t apply well then I’d recommend this as a great primer but if it’s a BB cream you’re looking for I’m afraid you’ll have to look else where. I also would not recommend this for oily skin as it is a bit slippy.

Have any of you tried this yet? I’m interested in hearing what you thought of it!
