UPDATING YOUR MAKEUP BAG

Monday’s post was about the products you need if you are just getting into makeup and feel a bit overwhelmed by all the products on the market. If you missed that post you can read it here

So this one is slightly different. It’s for the girl who’s into beauty and loves makeup, but reads blog and thinks ‘I want it all’ when clearly that’s not practical. It’s for my friend Gemma, who is always asking me “is that product you spoke about really that good?”. So here are my picks for the products I’d save up for if I wanted to update my makeup bag and inject some really great products into the mix.

NARS is a fool-proof makeup brand in my opinion who hardly ever get it wrong. I’d send you straight in their direction for bronzer and blush. My all time favourite bronzer is NARS Laguna because it’s in no way orange, but it’s not too sheer and is bronze enough to be able to contour or use all over the face without being too over the top. My favourite NARS blush is Deep Throat which is a soft easy to wear pink, but go to a counter and find the shade to suit you, there are loads!

I can’t live without my Bobbi Brown corrector and if you suffer from dark circles then this will change your life too. I take a small amount of the pink toned concealer and blend it under my eyes to neutralise the dark blues and purples that create the dark circles. It doesn’t crease on me, lasts all day and I’ve never found another product that can do as good a job.

I’ve raved about the Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector before and I’ll keep on raving because it really is great. If your skin looks a bit dull or if you want that dewy glowing skin look, then mix this with your foundation or use it as a primer and it’ll completely brighten up your complexion.

For the eyes I’ve picked out a couple of products, the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume mascara (no surprise there), head over to this post to find out why I love it so much. I’ve also picked the Estée Lauder Stay on Shadow Paint in ‘Chained’ which is a bit of an underdog in my opinion. There are so many cream shadows out there, but this trumps them all because of it’s mousse-like texture and unique bronze shade. I always get compliments when I wear this and I love it more and more every time I do.

Finally for the lips, a new product from YSL and a real treat for your makeup bag, the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine. They come in a shade for every occasion and apply like a dream with the perfect amount of colour and moisture. It’s something to splurge on but you won’t regret it!

So hopefully that helps narrow down the products I think are really worth the hype. Do you already use any of these? Which ones will you be adding to your wishlist?
