I’ve heard so many people say that on the weekends they hardly wear any makeup, but for me it’s the opposite. I spend most the weekend out the house, seeing people, doing fun things and just generally keeping busy. So I like to look nice and my Saturday mornings are a time for me to experiment with new makeup.

This Saturday just gone was spent in Portobello market. After recently using it in a tutorial video, I’ve fallen back in love with the YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation, so I used this for my base along with Rimmel’s Stay Matte powder. I recently topped up my brush collection (not that I needed to) with the setting brush and expert face brush from Real Techniques. I thought the expert face brush would be the same as the buffing brush but it’s not. It’s much softer and makes it easier to blend foundation without buffing so much that you end up with fuller coverage than you intended. I really like it and the setting brush is great for powdering certain areas of the face.

For a bit of colour I used three new products. To start, the Jouer Replenish and Protect hydrating face powder from Cult Beauty. I’ve wanted to try Jouer for a while and they are exclusive to Cult Beauty in the UK. This bronzer has an SPF of 39 which is amazing and it comes in a cute and handy compact. I really like this actually and it’s very similar to my favourite NARS Laguna. I’ll talk about this more in a future bronzer post but it’s very soft, easy to blend and leaves a natural glow. Origins never fail to impress me, although I was doubtful of their makeup line (before it launched). The blusher is ridiculously pigmented and for me is as good if not better than a MAC or NARS blusher. The colour is very natural and works great with a bold lip. The eyeshadow is a pretty taupe which I wore all over the lid and underneath the lower lash line. Again, ridiculously pigmented and soft! Oh Origins… will you ever disappoint me?

For my lips I went for something a bit vampy, Revlon’s Kissable Balm Stain in ‘Crush’. This is a gorgeous blackcurrant that I like to apply all over and then pat into my lips for a more day time look.

So that was Saturday’s makeup experiment and I was happy with the finished look! Sorry I don’t have a photo, but you may see it in my upcoming outfit post!
