LFW Backstage: Topshop Unique S/S13

I squealed with excitement when I heard I was going backstage at the Topshop Unique show with Grazia. It’s probably my favourite show at Fashion Week as I can really relate to it and the beauty AND fashion really excites me.

My post later today will be about the Topshop Showspace, it was so amazing that it needs a whole post to itself.

Backstage was buzzing and in true Topshop style it felt fresh, new and exciting. Let’s start with nails…. one word, nude. So many shows this season have done nude nails, maybe crazy nail art will be dead by Spring/Summer? For this show they used Topshop’s ‘Nice n Neutral’ which is a very natural, skin tone nude.

For the makeup, inspiration was taken from a 90’s Kate Moss. Pretty pink meets 90s grunge with a nod to the punk era. Blush was extended lower on the cheeks and used as a multi task product on both the lips and eyes. The amazing pink eyelids were created using two blushers blended out. The smudged out liner under the lower lash line gives an edge to the pretty pink look.

Hair was kept very natural and I was told that the models were not picked for their hair and no models were given extensions or any changes to their hair. If time allowed it, the hair was left to dry naturally and was then teased into a side parting and spritzed with the L’Oreal Beach Fizz salt spray. No brushes were used and it was important to not make the models look like robots so all the hair looked different as they stepped onto the catwalk. The London girl, morning after hair is VERY Topshop.

It seems that Spring/Summer is all about the eyes so keep your lips and nails nude and go crazy with the shadow!

Do you like this makeup look?
