IMATS London 2012

I went along to IMATS on Saturday – for those of you who may not know, it’s the International Makeup Artist Trade Show held every year in 6 cities around the world. Luckily for me I got a press pass which means it was free to attend AND it was held at a venue 10 minutes from my house. It was definitely worth going taking these factors into account, but if I lived far and had to pay for the ticket, I’m not sure it would be…

I spent the day with some lovely friends, which made the day amazing. We shopped till we dropped and then grabbed some lunch up the road. I was really excited to see a few stands there including Real Techniques and Make Up Forever as these aren’t very accessible in the UK. The exhibition room wasn’t as big as I was expecting at all. I was expecting Clothes Show Live size, but it was about a quarter of the size. We looked around the whole place in about an hour.

I bought quite a bit but didn’t go crazy!

Real Techniques Core Collection:  I’ve wanted the buffing brush from this set for a long time. Although the other brushes won’t get much use, I think it was still worth buying. I think I got this set for around £16, which is a really good deal. I very nearly bought the blusher brush too but thought I’d wait a bit and see how these go. I already have the stippling brush and love it so I’m looking forward to trying them.

Royal & Langnickel Silk Pro Green Line brush set:  We got given this brush set complimentary in the R & L bloggers lounge which was lovely and unexpected. The brushes seem like really great quality and the biggest brush is unbelievably soft, especially for a synthetic brush!

Royal & Langnickel Super Eye Fluff C448 brush: The perfect brush for sweeping on a base colour. Five out of seven days of my week are spent at work, so I’m trying to think more practical when it comes to my makeup routine.

Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Sob: I wasn’t expecting to buy anything from Illamasqua as it’s not a brand I’m that fussed about. I was quite interested in looking for a lipstick, although it turns out they didn’t have any good ones there. The stand was busy but we managed to squeeze in to take advantage of the ‘any item for £5’ deal. This was the only subtle product I could see and I really liked the look of it. Actually, I think all 10 of us picked one up so you may see this circulating the blogosphere. I only have one cream blusher so this makes a nice change to my collection.

Make Up Forever Sculpting Blush in 14-‘matte raspberry brown’: I’m a big fan of Make Up Forever and really wish you could get it easily in the UK! The stand was pretty busy but I had a little mooch and saw this blusher straight away. I haven’t got any blushers in this sort of dark red shade and think it will really suit my skin tone. It’s also a matte blush and I don’t think I have any others in my collection…

Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes in 1L and 2L:   I have been searching for some soft eye liners for a while now. I really hate when an eye liner is scratchy and all the ones I have are. These are really soft and waterproof. I was umming and arring for ages over which colours to get and ended up getting a black and a pearly brown. I later asked Zoe to pick me up a greeny blue, so I actually got three. Love a good eye liner.

So that’s it – that’s my IMATS ‘haul’.

Did you go? What did you buy?

Disclaimer: I applied for a press pass for the event and was given the cork brush set complimentary. Everything else was bought with my own money.
