Hair Cut & Care

My hair is naturally very curly. I used to hate it, but now I’ve grown up I don’t mind it. The reason why I straighten it all the time is more for convenience. Even though it’s a pain to have to straighten it every morning, when it’s curly I have to wash it everyday! I just don’t have time in my life for this (putting product on it after washing it takes forever) and my hair doesn’t get greasy quickly – so it’s much easier to have it straight. Although I have a lot of hair, the actual hairs are very fine (which is why it goes curly). When the whole world looks for ‘weightless’ hair products, I desperately look for products to weigh down my hair and make it feel like proper hair.
I’ve had a Keratin treatment around 6 times, I think. I had to have them quite often a few years ago, but now I probably have it once a year. My hair has naturally calmed down as I straighten it so often, but occasionally I need to have the treatment done to stop the ‘puffiness’ and to give in a deep conditioning. It gets very dry and my hairs break quite easily so the Keratin treatment always helps that.

I went to the hairdressers this weekend to get the treatment and have a cut. I go to Toni & Guy, but I really only go for the hairdresser. I’m not really into the ‘chains’. I’ve always been very untrusting of hairdressers due to many embarassing incidents including trying to comb my mane with a tiny comb and it snapping… etc etc. So now that I’ve found someone I trust, I ONLY go to him.

It doesn’t look THAT different in this photo, but it really is. After you have the Keratin treatment you need to leave it dead straight for around 3/4 days. It always feels a bit greasy because it’s basically like having loads of conditioner left in. But after washing it and re-straightening it, it feels very healthy and soft. I had all my dead ends cut off too… it was hard parting with them but it had to be done 🙂

It’s really important for me to keep my hair hydrated so I’ve been looking into some new products to try. I recently bought these from Feel Unique.

I love Moroccan oil and have been really impressed by the mask. My mum has been using the Shampoo and Conditioner and LOVES it so I thought I’d give the conditioner a go.

The Joico K-Pak has been raved about by Fleur so much that I had to get it. This one is specifically for damaged hair so it’s perfect.

I’ll let you know how I get on with these!

So, I hope you found this post interesting… Have any of you had a Keratin treatment before or used either of these products?
