Navigations Through Scent

It started in a rush, topping up makeup and taming hair… and ended with a pizza and a gorgeous gift.
I was invited along to the launch of Molton Brown’s first fine fragrances and I jumped at the chance. It’s a brand I know well, but have always thought more of as a ‘mum’ brand and not something I’d buy for myself. When I think of Molton Brown I think specifically of hand wash and body lotion.
The launch was held at the RSA Vaults, which was once used to hold spices – very appropriate. It was an amazing venue! We walked in and were greeted by the gorgeous smell of Molton Brown candles scattered down the staircase.
They are launching 5 new scents; each one based on a different country. Each bottle was displayed on it’s own podium, surrounded by the ingredients which makes up it’s unique smell. I thought this was such a nice touch and really helped to understand each scent better. We were guided around and introduced to each scent using their clever smelling flutes.

LIJIANG – My favourite from the collection; based on China. Fragrance notes include: pink berries, white tea, osmanthus, white musks. It is described as Floral-Musky. It is light and delicate and you can really smell the tea!

IUNU – My second favourite: based on Egypt. This fragrance is more spicy and includes notes like: ginger oil, elemi oil, egyptian jasmine oil, ylang ylang, black pepper, patchouli and oak moss. They describe this one as Floriental-Spicy.

APULDRE – An English scent, based on lovely Kent! This one is all about traditional England and modern England combined. Fragrance notes include: juniper berry, wormwood, cedar wood, violet leaf and leather. Description is Green-Aromatic. I thought it was a nice touch to have an English one, and maybe something people wouldn’t expect.
ROGART – The fourth scent is based on Canada. We were told that they didn’t want to do the predictable American scent and so opted for something similar but much more interesting. This scent aims to combine the warmth of maple and the cold, crisp snow. Fragrance notes include: elemi oil, juniper, angelica, maple syrup, gaiac wood, fir balsam. It is Woody-Fresh.

SINGOSARI – Finally, the scent of Indonesia. Hot rain, incense and ginger comes together to capture the essence of Indonesia. Fragrance notes include: incense, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, vetiver, patchouli. They describe this one as Spicy-Woody.

Something I love about the fragrances, is that on each one is Geographic coordinates, which if you type into Google it will take you to that specific place. I think it’s a really nice touch. The packaging itself is gorgeous and will look perfect on my dressing table!
I was very lucky and got to take home a scent of my choice – I chose Lijiang as I like the white tea. I think the perfumes will do very well and people, like I was, will be pleasantly surprised with the quality and detail of the collection.
So what do you think… Which scent would you like to try?
Do you like Molton Brown products and are you surprised with these fragrances? I wanna hear your thoughts!
